Raising a family is challenging, without having to worry about how you’re going to pay for it all and protect what’s most precious to you. We know, because we have families too, and protecting our loved ones is our greatest priority.
Whether it’s children’s savings accounts, saving for their education at school or university, planning ahead to help them get on the property ladder, ensuring that you’ve written a will, protecting their inheritance, planning ahead for your parents or even your own care in your later years and so much more, we can help.
No matter whether your children are still at home or have left and are making a life of their own, we’ll help you plan and protect both your and their future. And as your adviser, we won’t just sit on the fence and give you generic advice, we’ll work with you to provide real, effective and actionable solutions.
*The writing of a Will involves the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James's Place. Wills are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Senior Partner at a global accountancy practice
Adam, like so many of our clients, was introduced to us by an existing client. He is 49 years old and is in the most important and financially rewarding chapter of his career. However, he also wants to keep an eye on his longer-term plans towards retirement and spend more time with his family.
It is a scenario we know well, having helped many senior Partners at the peak of their careers in similar situations. We enable them to navigate the choices in front of them, whilst also helping them to keep focused on their work and managing the day to day pressures that come with being a senior partner in a major global business.
Adam wants flexibility, in the medium to long-term, around how he spends his time and a level of confidence that this is not entirely dictated by circumstance. He knew that to enable this, he would need to create financial security for himself and his family.
We worked with Adam to identify his Future Perfect. We worked through various scenarios, in detail, looking through the ramifications for each and working out the pros and cons. His primary objective throughout was to be able to have a choice, so we developed a plan that allowed him to keep his options open, by running two long-term strategies concurrently.
Both are backed up by robust retirement and investment plans, mainly around utilising the most appropriate tax and investment allowances for him and his family. This includes using his children’s junior ISAs and pension allowances, to start building their own long-term financial well-being.
Today, Adam knows that he has choices. Not only can now determine his own financial future, but he can also help shape his children’s, by setting them up with a secure financial platform. Above all though, he has the freedom to choose how he spends his time and balance the different needs of work and family.
The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.
The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.
Testimonial from Adam:
"Mark and his team have been a pleasure to deal with over the years that my wife and I have been clients. They have always been good listeners in terms of understanding our ambitions and changing priorities and responsive in their suggested solutions. As our children have grown, as a family, we have created a plan to achieve our family’s long term financial objectives and more recently the income in retirement modelling has provided confidence that those plans should offer the financial security we are seeking. We have always sought straight-forward advice and transparency around the uncertainty of growth assumptions and the firm’s fee structure. These have always been provided in a clear way which has maintained the trust we hold in the relationship. Mark and his team take a genuine interest in us as a family, way beyond our financial situation, and we always look forward to our meetings with Corinthian – I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them as financial advisers."
